A sinus lift, sometimes called a sinus augmentation, is a surgical procedure that adds bone to your upper jaw in the area of your molars and premolars to make it taller - before dental implants can be placed.

In order that implants function properly it is necessary that the bone - which they are screwed into - has proper quality; it must be strong and thick enough. However after teeth are lost, or when there is an infection at the roots the jawbone in the area begins to resorb or remodel. Over a period of time, this bone loss usually becomes significant, leaving an insufficient amount of bone remaining to place dental implants. In this case you need sinus augmentation, which essentially increases the amount of bone, allowing implants to be placed. The bone is added between your jaw and the maxillary sinuses, which are on either side of your nose. To make room for the bone, the sinus membrane has to be moved upward, or "lifted".

The procedure can be done at the London surgery or in Budapest - as you prefer. After this procedure 6 months healing period is necessary before dental implants can be placed.
